Advising Local Planning Authorities on Renewable Energy Schemes

In the past 10 years, Renewable Energy, in all its forms, has opened up as a valuable new market for farmers and landowners, offering them the opportunity for incremental profit growth, complementing existing land uses. The number of planning applications for Renewable Energy schemes has therefore also increased significantly and as a Local Authority Planner or Development Officer, you are required to make judgements on whether to grant permission for these.

Agricultural Land Classification is one piece of the jigsaw which you use to decide whether a site is suitable for a Renewable Energy scheme, particularly Solar Array (Photovoltaic). Landscope can help you by undertaking an analysis of the soils at that site, or assessing the analysis provided by the applicant, to ascertain the soil classification.

Landscope is qualified and experienced in carrying out these classifications ourselves and act for a number of local planning authorities and energy companies to deliver comprehensive and accurate ALC reports.

Landscope advises on a range of Renewable Energy Schemes:

  • Wind Energy
  • Solar Energy
  • Anaerobic Digestion
  • Biomass
  • Renewable Heat Generation

Landscope has acted for both private clients and for Local Planning Authorities as an expert witness on a range of Renewable Energy Schemes.
